Grants and Awards
In
order to support the constant development of language teachers
and the field of language teaching, COFLT is offering numerous
scholarships, as well as the COFLT Honor Roll, in place
to recognize successful language teachers and professionals.
Four scholarships of $500 each Spring recognize outstanding
language students recommended by COFLT members. Other annual
awards cite distinguished student achievement, outstanding
language teachers a the K-12 and college levels, and special
contributions to the profession. COFLT Mini-Grants ($250
each) are awarded to help develop new ideas for language
teaching and/or research.

Scholarships
These scholarships recognize outstanding commitment to the
study of a second language. COFLT awards four (4) scholarships
of $1000 each under
this program: one for a student at a high school with 500
students or less, two for students at high schools of any
size, and one for a student at the college/university level.

Certificate of Outstanding Achievement
This award acknowledges exceptional language students as
they graduate, at every level from elementary school through
university. By giving special recognition to these students
the award benefits them and helps raise awareness of the
field of language learning which is so important to all

Professional
COFLT Honor Roll
The COFLT Honor Roll Board honors those language teachers
or language professionals who have made significant accomplishments
or contributions to both the teaching of language and the
field of language acquisition and teaching. Currently, three
distinct awards are being offered, one for outstanding teaching
at the K-12 level and college level, as well as an award
for outstanding contribution ot the language teaching profession.

COFLT $250 Mini-Grant
Each year COFLT awards four $250.00
grants to COFLT members in order to: 1) provide incentive
for teachers to develop new ideas and materials in their
language; 2) encourage professional growth; 3) facilitate
the sharing of effective teaching techniques and materials
among colleagues; and 4) aid in developing an appreciation
of foreign languages and cultures in the community. Funds
may be used for: purchase of materials for class projects,
curriculum development, workshops, or other events that
benefit language students, teachers, and the community.

NNELL Award for Outstanding Support
of Early Second Language Learning
The NNELL Award for Outstanding Support of Early Second
Language Learning will be given to an individual or individuals
who have demonstrated outstanding support of early second
language learning of languages other than English. Nominees
may be actively involved in their efforts in a variety of
ways including, but not limited to, the following: principal
or other school administrator, district or state school
superintendent, classroom teacher, parent, school board
member, businessperson, civic leader, politician/elected
representative. Nominees should be individuals whose primary
job responsibilities are not related to the field of second
